Hello to
everyone!
This second of my notes to all
members of SIUSA concerns another part of the membership formula that is Key to
the “Long Life” of SKAL…. RETENTION! The
following ideas might be helpful in keeping our SKAL members involved. We all
know when a member is “engaged”, they remain interested and stay
members.
-
COMMUNICATION IS KEY to
any group and SKAL is no exception. Keep informed with emailing from your
President, EST, or other interested members of the club, as to items of interest
to the industry in not only the community but world wide.
o
ENCOURAGE your club to
Email a list of names, companies, phone, and email addresses to all members, and
to put all info in their contacts page with a category for SKAL.
o
KEEP IN TOUCH Call or
email ideas and stories of interest to your entire Club.
o
FORM A “CALLING
COMMITTEE”. When you don’t see a member at a meeting email them to
encourage them to attend the next month. You might form a committee to follow
up.
o
UPDATE MEMBER’S
INFORMATION. If you have a small club, go around the table each
month for updates to each member’s business or social interests.
-
MAKE MEETINGS FUN AND
INTERESTING. Have contests,
guest speakers (not all the time) and theme meetings, mystery meetings, anything
different that members will talk and joke about. Contribute your meeting ideas
to your board.
-
Devote one meeting a year to “HOW SKAL CAN WORK FOR
YOU”
o
SHOW how to connect to
the SI web site on a wide screen TV – step by step.
o
SHOW how to find
members world wide in different categories, so that members can find potential
clients and make friend’s world wide.
o
SHOW how to change
their profile on the SI website.
o
SHOW how to join Skål
International USA Face book page and your Region’s Skål International USA Linked
In area in social media. Both of these are quickly becoming vital and lucrative
ways to communicate with other Skalleagues and can help a member not only within
Skål but in their business, as well.
o
RESELL VALUE OF MEMBERSHIP
to current members. Recap “How SKAL can work for you”.
-
Have a social goal or a special event that
your club can point to with pride and work as a group to accomplish each
year. MAKE
SKAL A TEAM SPORT that generates fun and stories that can be
talked about for years.
These
are only a few ideas the membership committee arranged for me to use in this
email. To keep each month notes short, we will include more ideas on RENTENTION
in my November email. If you have any additional Ideas, please send them to me
in a return email to president@siusa.org or always feel free
to call me at 870 735 5777. You
may wonder why I am sending these notes to all members and not just the club’s
board of directors. Membership is EVERYONE’S
responsibility and the only reason there is SKAL. Each of you can and should
help with retention of members.
The Skål International World Congress
begins this weekend in Finland; if you’re not planning to attend please
think forward to next year’s congress in Korea.
It is a great place to meet new Skalleagues and see old friends. Your fellow
Skalleague is your extended family – remember…
“you will reach your
goals only with the help of others” …. George Shinn
Sincerely and Skål to each and
everyone one of you! See you in Turku!
